Cycle #19

So for this cycle I'm starting back on Metformin. This time I'm doing the XR and it has been rough. I don't remember having this much of an issue on the regular Met. I'm only taking 250MG and I gradually easing myself into it. The first night was 500MG and was not a fun night at all, it was awful. I'm sure it didn't help I took it with pasta. Anywho, I know what I need to do, I need to lose weight and eat better and take this medicine. My side effects of PCOS are out of control so I need to take control. It's crazy how this has all popped up recently after not taking anything since Dec of 09. I need to talk more with Dr. Max so I can figure out how to control some of the side effects of PCOS. I've been reading a lot on the soulcyster.com website and learning some secrets. I'm going to start temping tomorrow and will increase the Metformin XR in a week or so. I'm taking things slow this time, changing my thinking, diet and body. PCOS will not beat me!!

A new start!

It's been a while since I posted, in January 2010 we had been trying for two years to have a baby. In December of 09 we did the last double IUI with injections, it didn't work so I gave everything up. I stopped taking all meds even my prenatal vitamins and didn't go back to the RE Dr. S. I was so upset I hadn't gotten one BFP at all in the past two years. I was not ready to do anything until recently. I needed to have my yearly appointment anyways and decided I'd go back to the drawing boards with my regular, since I was 16 years old OB, Dr. Max.

So here I go on April 2nd to see my awesome OB, he did a very through exam. Physically everything felt normal. He asked me to let him know what has gone on the past year in 2009. I explained our 5 more Clomid cycles only responding to 3 and having the other two cancelled. Two at 100mg and three at 200mg with one last injections IUI cycle. He was shocked with all we have been though in the last 2 years. He really listened and was genuinely concerned and upset for us. He was also very shocked Dr. S had me on 200MG of clomid after all the Clomid I had already taken. He said only once in his 27 years he had a patient that had been on 200mg. He wanted to do an ultrasound due to all the clomid and to see what's going on in there. I have been officially diagnosed with PCOS, on the ultrasound he said my right ovary is more PCOS than my left but yes it does look like PCOS. He suggested I go back on Metformin, I asked for the extended release version and he wrote me a RX. He also wanted my testosterone, pituitary and thyroid checked. I gave 6 tubes of blood to be tested. Metformin would take 3 months before I see a change if any and he wants me to start taking my temp again. I will start Provera soon to end my 106 day cycle and start the Metformin with my new cycle. I pray that this will make me ovulate on my own that would be wonderful. He said to give it 6 months and we will see what my body does. No more Clomid for right now. Feel very positive after my check up with him and excited to have an answer even if it is PCOS at least I can do something to try to treat it. Stay tuned.....

12 days past IUI

Yesterday was a bummer to see my temp dip way down. Then I started thinking about it and wondering if it's to late for implantation. I posted a couple posts on the fertility websites and knew I still have more waiting to do. I just felt it was weird never in the almost two years has my temp dipped below the cover line like that. This morning I took my temp and it was back up there. I'm praying it stays up there. I was able to get from a consensus that implantation can happen anywhere from 5-12 DPO, so for the dip to happen at 11DPO maybe just maybe I might have a chance. I had dinner with a girlfriend last night that just found out she is pregnant and I found myself comparing my symptoms to hers. I had a dizzy moment yesterday and the day before was going potty all the time. I'm trying so hard to not get my hopes up and I'm terrified to test, I don't want to see another BFN. We are suppose to get a foot of snow starting today and going into tomorrow. I LOVE snow and have not seen a good snow since I was a child. It would be amazing to have all that snow, it's Christmas time and we get a Christmas miracle!!! Fingers Crossed and praying hard!

10 days of waiting

So we are now 10 days post Ovulation and I'm just waiting. I'm getting the normal symptoms though and I'm afraid to say this cycle might not have worked either. I still find myself asking why, why not us. Why is it so hard for us to conceive and so easy for others. It's tough, infertility and not knowing what is preventing us from having a baby.
I do need a break from things but then part of me wants to keep trying but I feel we are spinning our wheels and it might just be best to stay on the Metformin and hope my body regulates it's self and just save save save for IVF. I really think that might be the only way we will be able to conceive and to think we were soooo close to having the IVF/ICSI procedure done just a month ago. If I could just ovulate on my own that would be a miracle in it's self. Ehhh this too shall pass....

4 days down....

So we are 4 days past ovulation. We went in on Sunday am to have our first of two procedures done. Dr. S said the sample looked excellent. Way to go hunny! The procedure was done about 8:15am. I had some cramping during the procedure and then after for sure. We went home ate some breakfast and took a nap all three of us, Bailey our fur baby included. I woke up at 10:30 with sharp stabbing pains and was bloated like crazy! I was thinking it was ovulation but it’s early it’s not suppose to happen until tomorrow. I was uncomfortable and moody all day long.
Monday morning we get up to have our second procedure. Things again went well, hubby sample was good and the procedure was painless no cramping or anything. When I took my temp that morning I had a huge spike meaning I was right I did ovulate yes day., WHEW am I glad we went yesterday morning too this time. I’m praying it’s good sign.
So now it’s the dreaded 2 week wait. I’ve been taking the prenatal vitamins like always and also have been taking the 500MG of Metformin. I also picked up some Cran=Pom juice to help with uterine lining and have been drinking it for a couple days it’s good stuff. It’s only 15% juice though and I read to night it needs to be 100% juice. I think a trip to Kroger will be in order this evening. Dr. S told me to test in 14 days which would be December 20th. I think that sounds good, that way it’s not too close to Christmas if it’s negative. Positive vibes though I hope all of this works, those that have a hard time conceiving put them selves through soooo much!

Here we go

I went back to the dr yesterday and our 12mm follie grew to 15mm. He gave me another 375 units for a boost and told me to take the Ovidrel shot to trigger ovulation tonight. We are scheduled for our IUI's tomorrow am at 8 and then again on Monday at 8:30. I'm excited and really hoping there is a difference between the Clomid I was taking and the injects we took for the first time this cycle. I want so badly to be able to tell family on Christmas we are expecting. I hope my dreams and wishes come true!

GRR yell Grrrr!

So I have been to the Dr office 4 times now for check ups. This past tuesday he said I have one follie on my left at 12mm and one follie on my right at 7mm. He gave me 225 units for a boost and then 150 units to take last night. I went back this am and nothing has changed. On the left I have a 6,7,8 and 12 and on the right a 6 and 7. GRRRRRR!!!
I had total meltdown today I cried for about 45min straight and of course could not go back to work with puffy eyes and no make-up. He told me to take 375 units tonight and I go back for the fifth time tomorrow. I have mixed emotions today I'm tired of doing this and not getting anywhere. I hate that I've had to use so much medicine from the dr office, who knew it would take my body this much to do anything. I really really want a baby very bad but I can't help but think how much weight will be lifted off my shoulders after this last try at conceiving if it does not work. In a way I'm ready to not be on meds, not chart every day and actually have my life back. It's on my mind every day because it has to be and I'm tired of it having to be almost for two years. So this is really it, I just can't handle it anymore and need to remove myself from my life long dream of being a Mom for a while. Guess we will see what happens tomorrow. Each day at a time, right?
